QUALIFIED IN ANIMAL CARE, KENNEL & CATTERY MANAGEMENT AND DOG GROOMING
I have been involved in the dog world and a Setter owner for over 30 years, starting with Irish Setters as a young junior handler. After finishing school I went to residential college to gain my qualifications in Animal Care, Kennel & Cattery Management and Dog Grooming, knowing that this was the career path I wanted to take.
My English Setters came along around 15 years ago ‘Redhara Setters‘ and since then I have ‘made up’ 7 UK Show Champions. I have won numerous top awards at dog shows, including many first prizes at Crufts and I also Judge dog shows in the UK and abroad.
Over my 25 years of experience of grooming I have groomed many dogs, from family pets to Crufts winning show dogs, and have previously owned a very successful grooming parlour within a busy local boarding kennel.
THE DOG GROOMING SALON
The salon has been set up at Tansley for nearly two years. I can groom a dog on a kitchen floor, in the garden or on a bench at a dog show if I have to, but I prefer a ‘proper set up’ which is what I have a Tansley. Grooming dogs is back breaking work and if you don’t have a good ‘set up’ for grooming, in time this will affect your health. In the past I have groomed in a few very poorly designed grooming rooms with baths too high, water works which don’t work very well at all, rooms which are freezing cold in the winter, the list is endless to the poor design features which is no good for the dog or groomer.
The salon at Tansley is designed for a stress free grooming experience for both your dog and myself. The hydrobath is just amazing and worth every penny it cost, the removable front door is great for getting the bigger dogs into the bath, the high powered shower head is excellent and the water temperature is set at a constant heat setting so immediate hot water when required and you are not wasting time or water trying to get the temperature right. A total luxury when bathing a dog.
I don’t have any staff or need any either, therefore I can offer the grooming service on a one to one basis with your dog.
Although the type of dogs I own are show dogs, they are also real dogs. They get dirty, go on muddy walks, sometimes don’t get bushed and they get knots too, they are just like everyone else’s dog. Luckily I have set up a great place to sort them out when I get chance.
